Our policies:
BOOKING TERMS AND CONDITIONS
When booking you are deemed to have accepted these terms. A booking commences once Payment has been received in our bank account.
RULES
Love the forest, leave no trace.
Be a responsible camper, considerate to neighbours and fellow campers and respectful of the environment.
Don’t bring a caravan or campervan unless it’s been agreed in advance.
Drive slow. There are dogs, people and wildlife around. 5mph should be the maximum. If your car has low ground clearance, get in contact with us first.
Keep the noise down: we prefer acoustic music but if you would like to bring a speaker, please agree sound levels in advance.
Dogs are more than welcome but must be kept under control and should not stray onto neighbouring land.
Drunk and disorderly behaviour will not be tolerated. We reserve the right to ask you to leave should this occur.
We cannot accept responsibility for your possessions or any personal injury sustained while camping or using campfires.
Arrivals from 12 noon and departures by 11am on weekdays/3pm on weekends. Ask if you need some flexibility.
Wood for campfires should be purchased from us. Please do not collect firewood from surrounding trees or any woodpiles. You may collect kindling from designated stacks. You are liable at all times for any wood fires, BBQs and other activities undertaken at the campsite.
No fireworks, guns or weapons, obviously.
While we allow you to drive into the woods, you should assess the tracks to ensure your own vehicle is suitable. Driving in the woods is at your own risk. If we advise you not to drive due to muddy conditions or other factors, please leave it in the woodyard and request assistance to porter your things. .
Whilst on our land, you and any members of your party must not enter any buildings, or climb over any dry stone walls, fences or barriers. Any accidents on our land must be reported at the house so we can log them in our accident book.
Please read the guidance sent to you ahead of your visit.
Recognise that you have chosen to enter a natural environment and there are inherent risks in it related, but not limited to, trees, land, plants, water, insects and weather.
MAKING A BOOKING
When making a booking one member of your party must be at least twenty-one years old and has the authority of all persons in your party to book and accept these Terms & Conditions on their behalf and agrees to be responsible for any loss or damage caused by any member of your party.
Guests may be required to leave card payment details on record with Voltaire’s Wood. Any wilful damage deemed to have been caused by any of your booking party will be deducted from the card and an appropriate invoice supplied.
We reserve the right at all times to refuse access to the property or to ask you to leave.
PAYMENT
Payment for bookings can be made by cash, bank transfer or Stripe. Unfortunately, we cannot accept payment by cheque.
CANCELLATION AND CHANGES TO YOUR BOOKING
If you want to amend your booking, please notify Voltaire’s Wood as soon as possible. We are a small site and cancellations have a significant impact. Therefore we do like people to commit! Our refund policy is set out below.
28 days or more before arrival date: the booking can be cancelled with a refund of the deposit, less card processing fees and an admin charge of £20. Alternatively, the booking can be amended for numbers or dates at no extra cost, subject to availability.
Full payment for the camps is due 28 days in advance. If you haven't settled it on booking, we will send a reminder. If payment is not received on the due date , the camp will be marked as available and the deposit will be forfeited.
From 28 days we are unlikely to offer any refund except in certain circumstances at our discretion. We may be able to rebook for different dates with an admin charge of £20, subject to availability.
ADVERSE WEATHER
We will issue a refund if there is a severe weather forecast, in particular high winds and thunderstorms. We don’t allow camping in the woods in these conditions. If such weather is forecast, for example in a Met Office severe weather warning, we will have to postpone the weekend or cancel it. We try to give as much notice as possible but sometimes weather systems change very fast. We offer a full refund for a whole weekend cancelled, or a partial refund by negotiation if it just affects a small part of your stay. No other compensation is available.
LIABILITY
Please read this section as it is important that you understand what you are agreeing to.
Nothing in this section limits or attempts to limit our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence or for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for any other matter for which it would be illegal or unlawful for us to exclude or attempt to exclude our liability.
If we fail to comply with these Terms and Conditions we are responsible for loss or damage you suffer that is a direct and foreseeable result of our failure or our negligence. We shall not be responsible for any losses that you suffer that are indirect or not foreseeable, including, but not limited to, loss of income or revenue, loss of business and loss of anticipated savings.
Where we are responsible for your loss, our maximum liability shall be no more than to refund the amount paid by you for the holiday.
As our Site is located in a rural environment, we do not accept responsibility for any damage, injury or inconvenience caused by plants, trees, insects, farm animals, wildlife or other natural geographical features. You recognise the inherent risks in staying in woodlands.
We do not accept responsibility for anything that adversely affects your holiday that is outside of our control.
We reserve the right to change these Terms at any time and any such changes will take effect immediately when posted on the Website, at the Sites, or otherwise brought to your attention.
These Terms and Conditions are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
